PANJIM: Ahead of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s meeting with the legislators of the coastal belt and tourist taxi operators, the traditional local cab owners are adamant on their demand to scrap the government-backed GoaMiles app based taxi service.
At its general body meeting on Sunday, the North Goa Tourist Taxi Owners Association (NGTTOA) resolved to oppose the GoaMiles app and force the government to discontinue it.
Sawant has already scheduled a meet on Monday to resolve the ongoing crisis between the taxi owners and GoaMiles taxi app. Sawant had last month urged the local taxi operators to join GoaMiles on a one month trial basis while also warning the former of strict action in case they take law and order into their hand.
GoaMiles aggregator app has been facing opposition from the local cab owners with few drivers attached with the app being allegedly attacked by the latter. The State has taken a Cabinet decision to resolve the issue amicably.
