VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council vice chairperson Reema Sonurlekar on Monday was forced to move out of her cabin and shift to the Accountant Cum Administrative Officer’s (ACAO) cabin following ceiling leakage at several places.
It is pertinent to note that cabin is in a pathetic condition and on Monday the Vice chairperson had no other option, but to either sit in the main hall of the municipality or in another cabin.
Initially, she refused to sit elsewhere and said that she would sit outside. Later the councillors and the chairperson requested her to sit in the ACAO’s cabin which is vacant.
It may be recalled that recently Herald had highlighted that the ceiling of the Portuguese era municipality building started leaking at several places with the onset of monsoon.
The building houses a municipal school, administrative offices, library, urban health centre and other offices. The minor repair work of the ceiling was to be carried out utilising Rs 3.5 lakh from the municipal funds or from the Fourteenth Finance Commission scheme, but till date no repair work has been undertaken.
