VASCO: The Rural Development Agency (RDA) Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar has informed that the formation of Rural Development Agency into full fledged department will be achieved through a cabinet approval soon. He was speaking after inaugurating a beautified site near ferry point in Cortalim.
Salgaonkar has informed that the approval will be given in the next cabinet meeting. “We had approached the central Government for conversion of the RDA into independent department. We have formed the department and we have got officer appointed as Director of DRDA and has been given additional charge of RDA North. This Government is working towards improving rural areas,” Salgaonkar said.
“We are working restlessly to get have a synergy between the Centre and the State with DRDA as the implementation agency for various central schemes. We are working tirelessly for Poverty alleviation and Women Empowerment and being made into a department will give more boost for the work,” Salgaonkar said.
“DRDA had more than 90 staff which has been reduced to 30 as of now. If RDA is a Department there can be a synergy for implementation of schemes for improving lives of women, youth and common man in rural Goa,” Salgaonkar.
