PANJIIM: The dispute between GoaMilesapp-based taxi service and the tourist taxi operators was discussed in the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. However the deliberations failed to bring out any concrete solution. This is the second time the cabinet discussed the issue, supporting Goa Miles.
“The cabinet has extended its support to GoaMilesand wants an amicable solution to resolve the increasing differences between the Goa Tourism Development Corporation’s project and the tourist taxis. But the meeting did not come out with any decision on this issue,” one of the ministers, who was a part of the cabinet meeting, said wishing anonymity.
During the last cabinet meeting on June 5, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had urged the taxi associations to join GoaMilesfor trial period before protesting so as to provide the best rated taxis to tourists.
“I appeal to all taxi operators to come on board and not oppose. I spoke to app-based operators and discussed and found out their business has doubled. Taxi association must come on trial basis for 15 days or 1 month at least,” the CM was quoted as saying after chairing the meeting.
