Cabinet nod for maritime security panel

Committee comprises of Army, Navy, Coast Guard and other officials

PANJIM: On recommendations of the Union Home ministry, the State cabinet gave its nod to formulate the “Goa State Maritime Security Committee” on line with the Pondicherry and West Bengal Committees.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the Central government has emphasized on securing the Indian coast after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and appoint a Maritime Board. 
However, he said, “Goa being a small State, we approached them and said we do not need a Board and instead would form a committee. The 22-member committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, will comprise officials from the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Goa Police, Captain of Ports,” he said. 
He said the committee is formed to maintain flawless security along the coast.
Speaking further, Parsekar announced that the cabinet has approved the film finance scheme that has been stopped since 2011. “Filmmakers can now apply for film finance up to Rs 50 lakh based on the category of films,” he said.
Giving details, he said, films would be divided into three categories of A, B and C. “While A category will get Rs 50 lakh of funding or 50 percent of the expenditure, B category will get Rs 30 lakh or 50 percent of expenditure and C category will get Rs 10 lakh or 50 percent of the expenses, whichever is less,” he said adding that the scheme is open for feature and non-feature film.
