PANJIM: The Goa cabinet on Monday approved the draft amendment to Section 3 of the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction (Amendment) Bill 2021 which proposes to exclude cultivable land and orchard land from Eco Sensitive Zone (ESZ)–II.
The Bill will be placed before the State Legislative Assembly. The Law Department has already vetted the Bill and the Finance Department has also concurred with the proposal.
“The authorised officers while disposing the application under this Act faced the difficulty to dispose application for unauthorised construction carried out in cultivable zone and orchard land in Eco Sensitive Zone-II as the Act prohibited regularising such construction situated in Eco Sensitive Zone, in order to clarify the instruction of the law, an amendment was proposed to exclude cultivable land and orchard land from Eco Sensitive Zone II from the restrictions as laid down in Section 3 of the said Act,” stated the Cabinet note.
