Cabinet okays appointment of Ashton as CEO of IPB

PANJIM: The State cabinet on Tuesday approved the appointment of Ashton Godinho, a senior corporate executive employed with a national company, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board. Godinho has been appointed on a contract basis for a term of five years.

PANJIM: The State cabinet on Tuesday approved the appointment of Ashton Godinho, a senior corporate executive employed with a national company, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board. Godinho has been appointed on a contract basis for a term of five years.
“State cabinet approved contractual 5 year term appointment of Godinho as CEO of Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board. Though the name was shortlisted around two months back, the cabinet approval was pending,” sources said. Herald had reported in June that Godinho had been shortlisted for the post of CEO. 
Godinho is currently a senior corporate executive employed with a national company which has a manufacturing base in the State. The company is a global leader in speciality laminated and plastic collapsible tubes. He is the profit centre head and leads a team of over 350 personnel.
As CEO of the IPB he will have to interact with captains of industry in the country and abroad and convince them to invest in the State.
The IPB, notified in November 2014, has granted in-principle approval to 46 new projects with a total investment of Rs 3752 crore and generation of 8863 jobs.
With focus on Information Technology (IT), the IPB aims at Rs 5,000 crore investment in the State in 2015, with total Rs 15,000 crore investments and 30,000 job creations by 2017 end. This includes the ambitious Rs 1200 crore investment by the Lava International Limited, which is looking at Goa as one of its local production hub in India.
