Cabinet reshuffle is prerogative of CM, says Tanavade

Says party higher ups will be informed before taking such a decision

VASCO: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Friday said that the cabinet reshuffle is the prerogative of the Chief Minister and that he will take a right decision at the right time.

Speaking to mediapersons at Mormugao, Tanavade said that nothing has been decided so far when asked about the possible cabinet reshuffle following the entry of eight Congress MLAs into BJP in September last year.

Stating that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will take right decision on cabinet reshuffle, Tanavade said that the Chief Minister will inform the party higher ups before taking such a decision and so far no such discussion has been held.

After the switching of eight rebel Congress MLAs into the ruling BJP, there was abuzz that there will be a cabinet reshuffle to accommodate at least two turncoats. The Chief Minister in the past often hinted about the possible cabinet reshuffle stating that the some of the new entrants would be inducted in the council of ministers.

Of the eight Congress MLAs, five have already been appointed as chairpersons of semi-government corporations. Three are still left without any position. Since Goa already has maximum limit of 12 Ministers, the Chief Minister will have to effect a reshuffle to accommodate the aspirants.
