PANJIM: FC Goa fans in Tiswadi taluka were anguished as Cable operators in their locality discontinued some prime channels, including Star Sports on the eve of FC Goa’s opening fixture of the Indian Super League against Delhi Dynamos FC which the host went on to win 2-0.
Number of channels went off air on Saturday as the ISL kicked-off with the opening match between Chennayin FC and Atletico de Kolkata.
As given to understand, the cable operators have found a perfect opportunity in the form of ISL to enforce their customers to purchase a new set top box.
However, this could not deter the spirit of some fans as they opted to watch the matches at their friends place on DTH services.
“FDI Cable Network is the worst cable service in Goa. There is no proper cable for days and moreover, their technicians are not even answering our calls,” said Joyster Afonso from St Estevam.
“I had ordered for a set top box but have not received it yet,” added Afonso.
Fans faced similar hardships in Panjim, St Cruz, Porvorim, Merces, Ribandar, Cumbharjua, Corlim and other surrounding areas.
Some fans such as Domnic Afonso from Porvorim had to depend on their internet connections to either get updates of the match or watch live streaming.
When Herald contacted a cable operator from the city, he ensured that the services will be restored by Monday. He further reasoned out that the delay was due to new cable lines and their installation.
