Cacora garbage treatment plant to start on trial basis from May 10

Plant will be inaugurated on the Statehood Day May 30, says PWD Minister Cabral

MARGAO: PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral said that the Cacora garbage treatment plant will commence on a trial basis from May 10.

He said that the plant, which has a capacity to treat 100 tonnes of garbage daily, will treat the garbage generated from the four talukas of Sanquem, Quepem, Canacona and Dharbandora using tested scientific technology.  

He further added that the treatment plant will be inaugurated on the Statehood Day on May 30.

He also spoke about how the shortfalls at the Saligao treatment plant were taken into consideration while completing the Cacora plant and the necessary modifications were made.

He added that the plant has the facility to generate solar power as the entire roof top of the plant will be used for the same, which will be in addition to the gas-based power the plant will generate. The Minister also took a dig at the Sonsoddo garbage treatment plant stating that for the last two decades promises have been made but there has been no solution while he added there have not been such major issues in his constituency of Curchorem.
