CURCHOREM: Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) has decided to demolish the dilapidated CADA building situated at Morailem, Curchorem and construct, in its place, a new building with multiple halls on the land measuring around 3600 square meters.
During a recent meeting held at Curchorem municipal hall, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral told the stakeholders to submit their documents by November 30, so that the procedure could be commenced soon and they could be rehabilitated at the earliest.
On the occasion, Municipal Chairperson Felix Fernandes said that the Command Area Development Authority (CADA) of Water Resource Development (WRD) has handed over its building along with the land to CCMC.
However, Fernandes said, since the building is in dilapidated condition, the municipality has decided to demolish it and in its place, construct a new building with multiple halls with parking facilities.
On maintenance of the building after construction, Cabral informed that ten percent of the rent from occupants would be credited in a separate maintenance account of the CCMC, which would be operated by the maintenance committee. While the toilets on every floor would have to be maintain by respective occupants.
As for the old building near the railway station, Cabral informed that all the formalities have been completed; the tender to demolish it and construct new building in its place, would be issued soon.
He said that the new building would have ground plus four floors with all the basic facilities, lifts and underground parking; its cost would be around Rs 28 crore.
“All the 42 occupants from this building will be accommodated once it is complete in all respect and the rent for them will be charged 50 percent of the new rent fixed by PWD after getting approval from the government and the rest will be auctioned as per rule,” Cabral informed
Chief Officer Kapil Phadte and Municipal Engineer Deepak Desai were also present for the meeting.
