MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva has said that he is ready to face any action the Goa Vikas Party leadership intends to initiate against him in respect of the fiasco over the Benaulim seat.
Saying that he has no problem if the GVP initiates action against him, Ciatu said that he followed his conscience by supporting Independent candidate Honey D’Costa for the Benaulim seat. “The GPV is their party. I am just an MLA. They are free to take any action against me. I have no regrets over my decision to back an Independent candidate in Benaulim,” Caitu said while he was moving in Benaulim constituency on the polling day.
The Benaulim MLA disclosed plans to impress upon the BJP government not to hold elections to the municipal and panchayat bodies on party lines.
Saying that candidate Honey D’Costa is leading in the constituency, Caitu accused former ministers and presently ruling members for pumping in money to defeat Honey in the election. “I was opposed to elections on party lines because parties and politicians would pump in money to drum up support for their candidates,” he added.
