Caitu’s outbursts were uncalled for: Avertano

MARGAO: Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado has expressed surprise over Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva’s outbursts on his absence at the Niz Ramponkarancho Ekvott’s office inauguration at Benaulim on Sunday.

Avertano told the media that he could not make it for the office inauguration at Benaulim because he had to rush to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, as a close friend of his was fighting for life. “It is not right for an MLA to make a statement from a platform when I had informed him about my inability to attend the function because I was at the GMC. For us, life is more important than an office inauguration. Despite telling Caitu of the situation that my friend has met with an accident, he took it in a different way”, Avertano said.
“I know that Caitu is a son of a Ramponkar and I am ready to solve the problems and grievances of the fishermen. We are the servants of the people and are there to reach out to the people in distress. He is also an MLA and he knows that we have to attend to the people”, Avertano said, adding that the Benaulim MLA can certainly call another meeting and he would be out there to solve any issues concerning the Ramponkars.
