CALANGUTE: Calangute police on Sunday recovered three more two-wheelers from Kolhapur after an inter-state racket was busted last week,in which vehicles rented in Calangute were taken and sold in Maharashtra.
Two persons from Kolhapur, Sanjay Kalke and Saddam KhudbuddinJamadar, had been arrested by Calangute one week ago.
Calangute police had received a complaint last month from a rental vehicles owner that the accused had taken a two-wheeler and a car on rent at Baga-Calangute and never returned them back. The accused had provided fake identity cards at the time of hiring the vehicles.
Police put the mobile number provided by the accused on technical surveillance through which the identity of the accused was revealed.
The modus operandi of the accused was to take car and bikes on rent from Goa and change their colour and registration number in Kolhapur and dispose of the vehicles for a price.
