Residents of Calangute in Goa have united to voice their concerns over
widespread illegal tree cutting taking place on a property marked as survey no.
81/1-D in the village of Candolim, Bardez. Disturbed by the unlawful felling of
trees, the residents have taken decisive action by lodging formal complaints
across various governmental departments, urging immediate intervention against
these violations.
The complaint, targeting multiple authorities, has been filed with the
Chief Secretary, the Conservator of Forests North at Van Bhavan, the Member
Secretary of the Goa State Biodiversity Board, the North Goa Collector, the
Additional Collector of North GOa, and the Sarpach of Candolim.
In an effort to safeguard the region’s biodiversity and preserve the
environmental integrity of the area, concerned citizens have called for swift
and decisive action against the flagrant illegalities being committed. The
joint complaint emphasizes the urgency of addressing this matter to prevent
further degradation of the natural landscape and uphold the sanctity of local
ecosystems.
