MAPUSA: Calangute Panchayat and MLA have taken up decided to ask Traffic Police and Calangute police let not car aggregators park their car on the roadside after dropping their guest. Panchayat resolute to relieve the locals from inconvenience caused due to the cars crowding in the coastal belt.
Sarpanch of Calangute village Panchayat Shawn Martins said, “Cab aggregators drop their guests and then pick guests, letting the local taxi operators suffer. Cab aggregators park their vehicle on the roadside which also leads to traffic congestion, obstruction to pedestrians as well as unnecessary tension in the village. The Panchayat have passed a resolution deciding that Panchayat will write to the office of Traffic police, Calangute police not to allow them to park their vehicle and wait.”
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said, “At times 20 to 25 vehicles enter the village. I have instructed the PI Traffic to issue challan to such cabs and immediately direct them to leave.”
Goans are self employed and do not depend on the government for jobs. We will not allow the car aggregator to do pick up. Since taxi owners/drivers operate on queue system so nobody can directly come and do the pickup in between,” Lobo added.
