CALANGUTE: Calangute police on Thursday arrested a notorious criminal from Rajasthan who was absconding and living as a tourist in Goa.
Calangute PI Paresh Naik said they received information from Rajasthan police that the accused, Salman Mohammed, 32, who was wanted in a case involving firearms in that State, was staying in Calangute after having arrived as a tourist.
“The accused person is involved in very serious crime committed at Rajasthan using firearm in which an offence has already been registered at Nayapur Police Station, Kota city, Rajasthan and Rajasthan police was searching him. The accused person after committing this crime was at large and was successfully traced and arrested by Calangute police,” Naik said.
The accused, Mohammed, a resident of Kota, was later handed over to Rajasthan police.
