MAPUSA: The Calangute Police have booked 13,000 tourists/ local residents for not wearing face masks and have collected a total amount of Rs 26 lakh as fine since January 2021 till date.
Police also booked 248 guides for illegal touting under the provisions of the Tourist and Trade Act. They were produced to the Director of Tourism and fined Rs 2,000 each.
