CALANGUTE: Calangute Police busted a prostitution racket which was being operated in Calangute and surrounding areas.
According to Calangute PI Laxi Amonkar, reliable information was received from sources that two persons are supplying girls for the purpose of prostitution. Acting on the tip, Amonkar along with a team of police and a members of NGO trapped the two accused persons and intercepted them who had come along with the two girls to supply them to their prospective customers at Dolphin Circle, Naikawado in Calangute.
Upon inquiry, the victim girls revealed that they were bought by the two pimps to further supply them to the customer.
A raid was conducted and the victim girls along with the pimp and the customer were brought to the Police Station.
Victims are natives of Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai. After recording the statements of the victims in the presence of the NGO members, both are lodged in Protective Home, Merces for safe custody after obtaining the orders from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mapusa.
The accused pimps is identified as Kishan Gopal Lal Verma (23) and Ajay Ramdhan Kundara (23) both natives of Jaipur Rajasthan are placed under arrest under Section 370, 370(3) of IPC and Sections 4, 5, 7 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
The police team was led by PI Laxi Amonkar, PSI Rajaram Bagkar consisted of NGO member and Police Head Constable Vidyanand Amonkar, Police Constable Amir Garad, Bhagwan Palyekar, Laxman Patekar, Ganpat Tiloji, Francis Fernandes, Supriya Mayekar and Deepa Gurav.
