Calangute police meet tourism stakeholders

CALANGUTE: Hoteliers and tourism stakeholders in Calangute-Candolim have been given a set of do’s and don’ts by police to prevent untoward incidents with the start of the peak tourism season.

A meeting was held on Wednesday at Calangute police station with hoteliers. DySP Vishwesh Karpe who was present, said they told stakeholders about the safety measures to be taken to ensure the safety of tourists. “Tourists come to Goa to enjoy themselves and we have to ensure their safety. We’ve told hoteliers about the need for CCTV cameras, to take care of guests who go to the swimming pool and to look after their valuables,” he said.

Karpe said with traffic jams likely all through the peak season, hoteliers should tell their guests to avoid large vehicles and big buses.

All big buses will have to be parked at the Dolphin circle in Calangute and they should make arrangements to take guests in mini-buses, he said.

“Hotels have also been advised to handle tourists under the influence of alcohol tactfully,” the SDPO said.
