Calangute police rescue minor girl, arrest kidnapper

MAPUSA: Calangute police rescued a 16-year-old minor girl from West Bengal and arrested here kidnapper at Calangute, on Tuesday.

MAPUSA: Calangute police rescued a 16-year-old minor girl from West Bengal and arrested here kidnapper at Calangute, on Tuesday.
Calangute police said that they received information with a request from Kumarganj Police Station in West Bengal that one Minajur Mondal, a native of West Bengal, had kidnapped a minor girl to Calangute and that the local police search for the girl. The Kumarganj police had also sent photographs of both the accused and the victim.
Accordingly, the Calangute police launched a search operation for the victim and the accused. However, before the police could close in on the accused at his accommodation at Calangute, he managed to flee with the girl.
Nevertheless, the police received a tipoff that the accused and the minor girl were at Calangute bus stand. Accordingly, a police team rushed to the bus stand and nabbed accused. The police took the victim girl into their custody and sent her to Apna Ghar at Merces for safe custody. Meanwhile, the statement of the minor girl was recorded by Arz member Juliana.
A team of West Bengal police is on its way to Goa to take the custody of the accused person.
The entire operation was personally conducted by PI Jivba Dalvi with assistance of PSI Sitaram Malik, LPSI Sapna Gawas and constable Vidyanand Amonkar.
