Calangute police apprehended a 64-year-old resident of Khobrowado, Calangute, on Friday for the illegal possession of dried greenish-colored leafy substance suspected to be ganja. The accused, identified as Habibal Mondal from West Bengal, was taken into custody following a raid conducted by the authorities.
Acting on reliable information received from sources, Calangute police conducted a raid near Dolphine Circle, Naika Wado, Calangute Bardez, Goa, on Friday, March 8th, between 01:30 hrs to 03:30 hrs. During the operation, approximately 1.2 kilograms of ganja, valued at Rs 1,20,000, was seized by the police.
The seized contraband has been attached under the Search & Seizure Panchanama, and the accused is currently in police custody. The raid was carried out by PSI Akshay Parsekar along with staff Vidhyanand Amonkar, Manoj Naik, Vijay Naik PC, Gouresh Karbotkar, Pranay Gawas, Ganpat Tiloji, and Yogesh Bordekar under the supervision of SDPO Porvorim and Paresh Naik Pl Calangute PS.
Further investigation into the matter is underway under the guidance of PSI Kiran Naik of Calangute Police Station.
