Calangute restaurant property damaged again

A Delhi-based businessman along with goons started breaking the restaurant’s compound wall and threatened us of dire consequences, says co-owner

MAPUSA: The property of Souza Lobo restaurant at Calangute beach was damaged yet again. 

According to the restaurant owner, the incident occurred on March 15 when a Delhi-based businessman along with goons came and started breaking the restaurant’s compound wall. Co-owner of Souza Lobo, Laverne Lobo intervened however, the Delhi businessman Rajeev Arora threatened the owner of dire consequences.

A police complaint was later filed.

Laverne, said, “On March 15 at around 1 pm, Arora despite having a complaint registered against him along with another person came to the restaurant and started breaking the existing compound wall belonging to us. I intervened and questioned Arora. However, Arora said that he has contacts with the police and the DGP and can do whatever he wants. On the intervention of our friends and customers he walked away threatening to come at night and kill us all”.

“This incident is captured in the CCTV surveillance. Arora was also accompanied by Calangute Police staff in civil clothes. This is the second time Arora has threatened us of dire consequences”, Lobo added.

It may be recalled that in November last year, a group of bouncers had allegedly trespassed into the Souza Lobo restaurant and had damaged the restaurant and had assaulted the staff and security. In this connection, the Calangute Police had arrested one Sameer Pavaskar.
