MARGAO: Representatives of religious bodies, including temples, churches and masjids on Friday called upon the police to intensify patrolling around the places of worship to maintain security and keep burglars and other miscreants at bay.
At an interaction with police officials at the Margao district headquarters, representatives of 50 members of religious bodies made a host of suggestions to the police team comprising DySP Mohan Naik, Margao PI Sudesh Naik and Maina-Curtorim PI Gurudas Kadam.
The police officials requested co-operation from committee members as well as from locals to maintain law and order. They were informed that check in book is being maintained at religious places and that the beat police as well as an officer visiting the place would sign the book. Police also suggested to the committee to install CCTV cameras and employ private security guards, while underlining the need to keep a routine check at isolated places.
Members of the religious committees were also asked to sensitize local people to co-operate with the police by informing them of person/persons moving in suspicious manner.
