PANJIM: The Calvin-Aldona bridge may take another month to complete according to Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation.
GSIDC Managing Director Sanjit Rodrigues said, “We should be able to complete the bridge within the next month.” The prolonged monsoon is attributed to be one of the reasons for the delay.
Meanwhile, GSIDC has issued work orders to major projects at the Goa Medical College Complex at Bambolim. The projects are in keeping with the guidelines prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) with the number of seats having been increased to 150.
Tenders had been floated and work orders issued for two additional lecture halls having a seating capacity for 180 students each and another with a seating capacity for 350. Tenders have also been floated for a new girls’ hostel having a 108-bed capacity.
Likewise an auditorium cum lecture hall having a seating capacity for 1200 is in design stage. This will be set up where the existing morgue is currently located after demolishing the old structure.
A new Cath Lab at the GMC is also being planned while the GMC’s library block is being refurbished.
The GSIDC is confident of completing all the projects within 18 months of issue of work orders.
On Tuesday Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar inspected the GMC complex along with GSIDC officials to oversee the infrastructure development projects drawn up. Work on the second phase of the Dental College has also commenced.
