MARGAO: The Camorlim gram sabha on Sunday outright rejected the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) sent by the government to the panchayat for its comments and also demanded information about migrants living in the village.
Sarpanch Basilio Fernandes pointed out that the CZMP that was sent to the panchayat was the same old one sent earlier and said not a single suggestion or recommendation made by the village panchayat was incorporated in the present plan.
The villagers expressed anger over this and accused the government of merely playing with the people as it made them waste their time and energy in making suggestions none of which were incorporated in the plan.
The villagers outright rejected the CZMP sent by the authorities and asked the government to prepare the CZMP as per the recommendations made by the panchayat and only then send it to the villagers for their comments.
The Sarpanch was asked to write to the Environment Minister expressing the people’s wish and tell the minister to consider the CZMP that was sent by the villagers.
The increase of number of migrants in the village was also discussed and it was noted that nobody had any record of how many migrants are residing in the village and the panchayat was asked to undertake a study.
The sarpanch assured to submit the details of migrants living in the village at the next gram sabha.
Sarpanch informed the villagers that with the backing of Fisheries Department the panchayat has started water harvesting at Uzro were fish farm has been set up. He said that three more fish farms will be set up in the village by next year.
Responding to the demand from people of Sonarvado to have signboards and bus shelter in their area, sarpanch said he will get them sanctioned by the District Magistrate.
A villager complained that the CCTV cameras are not working properly and hence suggested that they be replaced with good quality cameras.
