MARGAO, APRIL 20 The three main political parties contesting the south Goa polls hopped from one Assembly segment to another, trying to address as many public meetings as possible on the penultimate day of campaigning.

The three main political parties contesting the south Goa polls hopped from one Assembly segment to another, trying to address as many public meetings as possible on the penultimate day of campaigning.
While the BJP drafted cine star Shatrughan Sinha to drum up support in favour of party candidate, Narendra Sawaikar, the Congress and the UGDP held meetings across the constituency on Monday.
The Congress held an impressive meeting in Velim constituency organised by Water Resources Minister, Filipe Neri Rodrigues, while NCP leader and Tourism Minister organised a huge meeting at Betalbatim in support of Congress candidate.
Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat, GPCC President Subhash Shirodkar, besides candidate Francisco Sardinha hopped from one segment to another to make their presence felt at the meetings.
The Congress also organised small workers meetings which was attended by Sardinha and other leaders.
On the other hand, the UGDP had three meetings, two in Cansaulim and Cortalim and one in Curtorim. UGDP candidate, Matanhy Saldanha, party president Dr Jorson Fernandes and other leaders addressed the meetings.
The star attraction for the BJP meeting was the presence of Bollywood star Shatrughan Sinha.
He addressed a meeting at Vasco, besides one at Assolna and Navelim, where the party evoked encouraging response.
With just a day to go for the hectic electioneering to end on Tuesday, the three main parties appear leaving no stone unturned to make an impact on the electorate in support of their respective candidates.
