MARGAO: Camurlim Village Panchayat gram sabha on Sunday decided to start collecting sopo tax for the first time from the next financial year while also deciding to collect wet garbage from the villagers, which will be treated by the panchayat at its garbage segregation site next to the panchayat ghar.
Sarpanch Basilio Fernandes disclosed that the villagers will have to bring their wet garbage to the site themselves and the same will not be collected by the panchayat. However, the panchayat undertakes to treat the wet garbage that is given to them.
The gram sabha also decided to increase the House Tax by Rs 10 uniformly meaning that Rs 10 will have to be paid in addition to the House Tax paid this year. The villagers also decided to have a joint inspection of the site where a multi-dwelling structure is proposed.
Meanwhile, the gram sabha approved a Surplus Budget of Rs 18.14 lakh with Rs 13.55 lakh projected to be received from octroi and 15th Finance Commission.
Meanwhile, the Rachol gram sabha approved a Deficit Budget of Rs 12.16 lakh with major income coming from grants which are projected at Rs 53.50 lakh and only Rs 1 lakh expected from House Tax.
