MARGAO: Hospicio lift broke down yet again, putting patients and the elderly to great hardships on Thursday.
What made matters worse for the patients was that there was no manpower around to assist them climb the floors and they were either left to fend for themselves or take the help of their relatives. Relatives of a patient told media persons that they were told by the staff to carry their relatives to the third floor of the building. When they demanded to know whether the hospital had no staff to attend to patients in times of emergencies, they were told to carry the patient to the first floor.
This is not the first time that the Hospicio elevator has broken down, putting patients, especially the senior citizens, to great hardships.
