Canacona: 6 claim Cong ticket for 2 seats

CANACONA: With barely a few days left to file nomination papers to contest ZP elections, three Congress members have submitted their willingness to contest each of the two seats for ZP elections in Canacona.

While giving details of the Congress members who have till now showed interest to contest the election, Janardhan Bhandari, GPCC secretary and a resident of Canacona, said that he has till now received three names each for Khola and Poinguinim seats.

“Remy Borges from Agonda, the president of Toddy Tappers Association of Goa, Rajesh Velip from Shristal and Krishna Kashinath Sawant Dessai from Naqueri Betul have written to the party to contest on Congress ticket.”

Sources close to Congress Canacona block said that the GPCC president, Girish Chodankar, and leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat will finalise the names for both Khola and Poinguinim seats on Monday

While Reshma Velip from Mahalwada, Poinguinim who joined Congress with her supporters on Saturday, Sonali Khusth Velip from Welawada Poinguinim and Deepika Bhimrao Gaonkar from Kuskem Khotigao have staked their claim for the party ticket for Poinguinim seat Bhandari said.
