Canacona Police have given a 27-point guideline to tourism entrepreneurs of Canacona taluka in connection with the ongoing tourism season.
Those engaged in tourism business have been asked to provide names, addresses and other details of Kashmiris/Nepalese putting up any shops, stalls within their premises of shacks/hotels to the police and are also advised to install CCTVs at their establishments.
“Narcotics and drug activities should be immediately informed to the police and informant will be suitably rewarded, while his/her identity will be kept a secret,” assured Canacona PI Raju Raut Dessai.
In a briefing at Canacona Police Station on Thursday, which was attended by about 100 coastal residents and others engaged in tourism, PI Dessai guided the concerned to furnish proper information of workers employed and guests.
“There won’t be any leniency in filing ‘C’ forms and submitting it to the police station in respect of each foreign tourist with special emphasis on their passport number and visa details, etc, within 24 hours of their check in,” said PI Dessai.
Dessai also mentioned about keeping information of Indian tourists upto date and asked to observe any suspected activities and intimate it to police for follow-up.
“Arrival of Indian tourist groups having girls as members should be observed minutely for their character and police should be informed before allotting them rooms, if their behaviour is found suspicious,” Dessai told the gathering.
They were also warned on child labour (under 14 years) and over-lapping with the timings of shacks/hotels/restaurants by keeping it open beyond the given timings to avoid untoward incidents, besides playing music beyond 10 pm to avoid nuisance to locals.
“Sound systems will be seized by police, warned PI Dessai.
“Tourists/customers, especially foreigners, may also be asked to observe certain decorum and may be advised to avoid moving out of hotels after 12 pm and in odd hours,” he said.
“Also no details of foreigners should be disclosed to any person at any cost who is unknown and such enquiries should be immediately reported to police. While reporting such incidents, identity of police staff should be asked for,” he added.
Establishments are also asked to keep a watch over foreign tourists inside their rooms and report it to them, if anything suspicious is noticed.
While asking the establishments to provide fire extinguishers at their hotel/shacks, entrepreneurs are advised to engage private security to protect customers and hotels/shacks property.
Cyber Café’s in the taluka have also instructed to install CCTVs and maintain register with all details, besides collecting photo copies of identity proof of the visitors.
Taxi drivers/rickshaw drivers and motorcycle pilots are also asked to communicate to the police station if any suspicious information is observed by them while travelling through their vehicles.
In an interesting observation, police asked entrepreneurs to keep garbage bins away from crowded places, as explosions have mostly occurred in garbage bins.
