CANACONA: Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes flagged off the cleanliness drive from government building housing at Chaudi on the occasion of the third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission and Gandhi Jayanti on Monday, with emphasis on cleaning own house, own village and own workplace.
Launching the drive the MLA, in presence of Chairperson of Canacona Municipality Prarthana Naikgaonkar, Mamlatdar Ramesh Gaonkar and heads of the various government departments, exhorted government servants to begin with cleaning their own office and advised them to take up the cleanliness drive at least twice in a year.
Panch members and the residents actively participated in the drive and collected garbage. Cleanliness drive was also undertaken at all educational institutions in the taluka with staff and students cleaning the surroundings of plastic and other waste.
