Canacona residents protest supply of muddy water

CANACONA: Irked with continuous supply of muddy and turbid water the residents from all over Canacona taluka protested at the office of assistant engineer, water supply located at Chaudi on Wednesday morning.

CANACONA: Irked with continuous supply of muddy and turbid water the residents from all over Canacona taluka protested at the office of assistant engineer, water supply located at Chaudi on Wednesday morning.
Around 100 residents sat on a dharna at the office of the assistant engineer till they got a written assurance from the local PWD office that by October-end all water problems in the taluka would be solved.
The residents earlier had planned to swarm the PWD office and messages where flashed on social media to the effect, as the residents were supplied muddy water for last few days. 
By 10 am concerned citizens, who had come prepared with mats to sit in the office of water supply for a dharna started relentlessly questioning the engineers for an explanation for irregular and muddy water. As they were not satisfied with answer by the local PWD officers, the executive engineer was called to Canacona. Even when he could not provide satisfactory assurances, social worker Shantaji Naikgaonkar spoke over the phone with the principal chief engineer U B Parsekar and the PWD Minister Sudhin Dhavalikar, who assured the residents.
