MARGAO: Teacher by profession and also sings in a band, Classy Cardozo, 25 year old from Canacona came out on the top for her all round capabilities while singing to bag the first place at Herald Goencho Avaz. Classy is the winner of this edition and will get to record an album funded by Konkani filmmaker Nilesh Newalkar. Besides wining a trophy, certificate, gift vouchers, and holiday packages.
At second place was Divya Dinesh Naik from Curchorem, who sang Pishem in a beautiful way adding gaiety and laughter to her vocals. Divya is a young teenage student. While at third place was teenager, 19-year old, Anselm Fernandes who enthralled the crowds with his song Gozalli. Anselm is also a Xaxti boy from Colva. All winners were given trophies and certificates
While young Deeksha D’Sa from The King’s School won a special prize from the Indo-Portuguese Friendship society for being the youngest singer to participate at the event. Deeksha who just turned 16-years of age sang a perfect Ankvar Ravtelli to the end and left everybody speechless.
While in the duet category first place was bagged by Loy D’Silva and Siyani Fernandes from Chinchinim and Benaulim. While the second palce was bagged by Peviolla Dias and Jesmond Clemente who put up a nce performance for Ek Chedu. While at third place, were Dexter Furtado and Sarah Fernandes for singing Bizlecho Pavor. All the participants were givent mementoes and certificates while the winners were given trophies, cash vouchers and certificates.
Also present at the prize distribution were members of BangleNatak.com, a Ngo working towards social development of ancient art, culture and trade.
Ankita Biswas speaking on behalf of Kolkata based Banglanatak informed the participants and the families that, “We are keen to do a Konkani Bengali folk fusion music album soon and we will select few vocalist from Goencho Avaz and plan to use a few more Konkani vocalist at live performances across India and we will also try to create opportunity of collaboration with world music groups at Sufi sutra 2016 to be held at Goa on Feb 10-12, 2016.
