MAPUSA: Frustrated over constant power cuts and failure of Electricity Department to answer the calls, around 40 Canca residents rushed to Mapusa Electricity Department late Monday night, to question the officers about the power failure issue.
However, when they did not find any concern officer to talk to, they returned back home.
Next morning, (on Tuesday), the locals again went to the Electricity Department’s office and gheraoed the Electrical Engineering Portal (EEP) Radeep Narvekar and questioned about the frequent fluctuations in power supply.
The locals complained that for the last two years they are facing power fluctuation problem. However, for the last eight days, the power goes off in the middle of the night and returns back only after 9 in the morning making it difficult for the people to spend the nights sleeping peacefully.
“Despite complaining several times, the power issue is not solved. Also when we call the office, nobody answers. Every night, the power goes off after 12 am and returns only after 9am in the morning making it difficult especially for the children and old-aged people to sleep in the night as the heat is unbearable due to heat wave,” a local said.
Residents further questioned the EEP about the exact cause of constant power fluctuation and demanded to solve the issue on immediate basis.
After a patient hearing, EEP Narvekar informed the residents that they will be supplied power through Mapusa feeder and assured that they will not face the power fluctuation issue again.
