COLVALE: A Canca resident one Rohan Ratikant Korgaonkar was arrested by the Colvale police for snatching a gold chain of a Chicalim resident.
According to Colvale Police, 58-year-old Anita Datta Naik, a resident of Chicalim in her complaint stated that on January 14, 2022 at around 16:30 hrs, when she was proceeding from Colvale to Mapusa, the accused along with a pillion rider arrived on a scooter from Colvale side and snatched away her gold mangalsutra Rs one lakh and fled to Mapusa.
Colvale Police registered a case and the investigation revealed that the above scooter is owned by one Suresh Shankar Kumbhar, a resident of Khorlim, Mapusa.
When enquired with Suresh told police that he had given his scooter to the accused and provided his mobile number. Accordingly, the police based on the tower location traced the accused near a garage in Canca.
During interrogation, Rohan confessed to committing the crime. Colvale Police registered an offence under Sections 356 and 379 r/w 34 of the IPC. Police also recovered the stolen gold mangalsutra from the accused.
The Mapusa JMFC remanded him to three days police custody.
