NGT had on September 15 issued a bailable warrant against Chief Secretary for failing to present the Government’s stand on restoration of mines while hearing an illegal mining petition filed by a Green NGO Goa Paryavaran Sangharsh Samiti against MSHL Nathurmal and Ors. NGT has withheld the warrant till September 26, when the matter would be heard next.
Director of Mines Prasanna Acharya, in his application, stated that the State, which is one of the respondents in the case, was not aware about the filling of Miscellaneous Application (MA), the date of its hearing and notice served to the State for being present in the Court. “State shall henceforth attend proceedings in this matter through advocate on record for the State,” Acharya said.
