MARGAO: A candidate from the Cavorim ward of Chandor village died of a heart attack on Thursday.
Joaquim Piexote, a candidate for Ward No 5, for the approaching panchayat elections died of a heart attack on Thursday. He was on his way climbing a steep road of a hillock to attend a litany at the nearby Monte.
Joaquim was supposed to take on Raymond D’Cruz in the ensuing election. Wife of Joaquim, Rosalina is a former panch from the same ward.
Elections for the Ward No 5 of Chandor are set to be countermand due to the death of the candidate and fresh dates of election may be announced soon.
