CANACONA: Residents under the banner of ‘Chaudi Villagers’ staged a candle-lit procession late Thursday night as a mark of respect to the workers who were killed in the collapse of the building under construction at Ruby Residency.
The Chaudi residents were also joined by some residents of the Ruby Residency as the candle-lit procession passed through the national highway and through the Chaudi interior road.
Many residents, including Chaudi Councillor Hemant Gracias, participated in the procession, which culminated in a prayer service, informed sources.
Meanwhile, a resident of Ruby Residency, Sebeline Arsen, who also took part in the candle-lit procession, complained that authorities involved in the rescue and recovery operations were restricting her access to her residential flat and complex surrounding.
“They are unduly restricting my movements to and from my flat,” complained Arsen.
Incidentally, Arsen, who stays on the top floor of one of the flats in the building, where the sports minister resides, had been vocal in complaining about the poor quality of construction work in her flat. She had even taken some media persons to her flat, to show the pieces of concrete that were falling apart.
