Alleged accused arrested in Karnataka

CANDOLIM: Two men brutally murdered a 41-year-old Candolim-based hotel owner, Vishwajit Singh over a bike in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, Calangute police said. Police said the accused murdered Singh after being questioned for taking his (Singh’s) bike without permission. The incident occurred in the parking area of Sun and Sand Apartment at Baman waddo, Candolim police said.
The police, on checking the CCTVs and questioning some witnesses, managed to identify one of the alleged killers Umesh Rathod. Further inquiries helped the police identify the second person as Dayashankar. While Rathod was a resident of Calangute, his accomplice Dayashankar was residing in Nerul.
After committing the murder both the accused escaped to Gadag. However, Goa police, contacted their counterparts in Karnataka who managed to arrested the duo.
The Calangute Police have registered an offence against both the accused under Section 302 read with 34 Indian Penal Code (IPC).
A team from Goa Police has already left to Gadag to obtain the custody of the alleged accused persons. 
SP North, Chandan Choudhary, SDPO Serafino Dias and PI Jivba Dalvi rushed to the spot of the crime and began investigation. The Forensic Unit team, the Dog Squad Unit and the Cyber Forensic Experts, including fingerprints experts, were called to collect evidence.
Accordingly, SP Chandan Choudhary contacted and shared details with SP Gadag, Karnataka, Santosh Babu. Based upon the facts shared of both the accused, they were nabbed at Gadag by the Karnatka police, it was informed.
The Calangute PI, Jivba Dalvi, informed that Singh was stabbed in the stomach and chest by the accused between 1.30 am and 2.00 am.
“Fifteen days back Singh had come to the police station to complaint that his ‘Bullet’ bike was stolen by his staff. On Tuesday, Umesh along with his friend who is working as a security in the coastal area, reportedly went to return the bike and that lead to a altercation. Umesh was angry that his owner had filed a complaint despite he (Umesh) informing him (Singh) that he had taken the bike. Both the accused carried weapons and stabbed Singh,” Dalvi said.
The entire search operation was led by SP Chandan Choudhary IPS and included SDPO, Serafino Dias; Police Inspectors Jivba Dalvi, C L Patil and Tushar Lotlikar.
Further investigation is in progress, PI Jivba told Herald.
