PANJIM: The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board on Tuesday granted its approval to the Outline Development Plan (ODP) of Candolim-Calangute, which has marked the Aguada plateau as ‘Heritage Site’ and ‘No Development Zone’.
The Board, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, granted its nod to the ODP, which will be now forwarded to the government for final approval before it is notified. Talking to Herald after meeting, Chief Town Planner ST Putturaju confirmed that the ODP had been approved by the Board. The ODP was drafted by the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) after seeking suggestions and inputs from locals and other stakeholders. As per the plan, NGPDA has proposed a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, a sewerage treatment plant for Candolim and four multi-level parking facilities in both villages.
NGPDA also proposed a 25-metre wide bypass road from Sinquerim to Baga along with internal road connectivity to settlement areas. The authority has also resolved to regularise over 3000-odd houses, which have been constructed but have failed to make their presence felt on the land survey plan by marking them on the ODP.
