The Village panchayat had called a special gram sabha to decide on the land use register and ODP for the village. The meeting unanimously resolved to be part of the ODP, with a majority of the people raising their hands during the voting.
A special presentation was given by North Goa Planning and Development Authority chairman Michael Lobo and Member Secretary Pandita. “There were around 800 people present for the presentation and they all agreed to the proposals and unanimously decided to be part of the land use register and the ODP,” Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said.
Sources, however, told Herald that while a majority of the villagers agreed to be part of ODP, the panchayat members showed their reluctance.
“Most of the people have filled the forms declaring their properties so there was no looking back for them and hence the people voted for ODP,” said a resident.
However, former Calangute MLA Agnelo Fernandes, who controls the Candolim panchayat objected to the resolution stating it was manipulated. “Only few people have voted in favour of the ODP and I strictly object to it and will file a complaint with the BDO,” Fernandes told Herald.
