MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal villagers were in for a surprise as the Sarpanch informed them that an FIR cannot be registered against plotting in orchard land.
Villagers demanded that the Panchayat file an FIR against illegal plots being made in an orchard land in the village. However, the Sarpanch informed that an FIR cannot be registered as there is no provision in the law.
The Gramsabha also resolved to develop the two play grounds in the village. The Sarpanch informed the villagers that they had met the local MLA who told them to come with their proposals after the December 19.
The gram sabha discussed Goa Carbon Factory’s request to the Panchayat to grant NOC to install a pollution suppression unit. The Panchayat has asked the company to first reduce their pollution, test the ambient air and submit the pollution report to the Panchayat.
