Cannot fulfill Sudin’s desire of becoming CM: Gadkari

PANJIM: Union Transport Minister and BJP Goa in-charge Nitin Gadkari said his efforts to save the MGP-BJP alliance proved futile.
Asked whether he made any efforts to save the alliance, Gadkari, known to be good friends with MGP’s Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar, said he could not do much. “Sudin is a good friend and will always remain so. Even if the alliance does not happen he will remain my friend,” he said.
According to the minister he made efforts to sort the issues. “When I tried to contact (him), I realised through newspapers that they don’t want to talk. Maybe he felt he wants to become CM. Unfortunately, I cannot fulfill that desire,” he said.
Gadkari also stated that it could be possible that if the elections don’t give any party a clear majority then Dhavalikar wants the power to negotiate.
Asked whether he is open to a post-poll alliance with MGP, he said the options are open. “Politics is a game of contradiction, compulsion and limitation. Anything can happen in cricket and politics,” he said. However, he added, “I am confident we will get more seats than in 2012.”
