VASCO: Newly elected Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim Biodiversity Management Committee chairperson Sibel Almeida has assured villagers that she will work for the development of the village.
Almeida was elected as chairperson of the Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim Biodiversity Management Committee during the gram sabha held on Sunday.
Almeida said that she will work in close coordination with the panchayat members for the benefit of the village and take all the committee members into confidence. “I assure you all that I will do what is best for the entire village,” she said.
BMC member Larry Barreto said that the flora and fauna of the village has to be protected. She said that the committee will ensure that all the water bodies and channels are desilted and cleaned so as to restore the age-old traditional drainage system, which are presently not functioning properly.
Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim Sarpanch Savio Pereira said that the gram sabha was convened mainly to elect a new Biodiversity Management Committee and elect the chairperson and other members. He expressed confidence that the new committee will strive to conserve our rich biodiversity and protect the village for future generations.
