MARGAO: The Sarpanch of Cansaulim, Cassandra Almeida and Deputy Sarpanch, Baylon Gomes, resigned from their posts accusing the Goa government, Local MLA Alina Saldanha, Panchayat Secretary and other government departments of complete non cooperation in terms of development work. Almeida and Gomes accused the MLA of passing projects and work in Casaulim which are rejected by the people.
Gomes referred to the hung-up development work saying “Unfortunately, the last 3 years of our tenure has been just a struggle to keep afloat and justify, with absolutely no headway in the direction that I am here for.”
He accused Saldanha of stalling all the development projects in the Panchayat and acting against the good governance slogan of the government of Goa.
Gomes went on to say that they have seen no support from either the government, or Saldanha or the administration towards development of the village. All the work is at a standstill for lack of positive decisions from the concerned authorities.
The Deputy Sarpanch also highlighted that the Panchayat Secretary is misguiding, misleading and useless for the Panchayat.
The elections for the new sarpanch and deputy sarpanch will be held on Monday.
