MARGAO: In a first-of-its-kind, the South Goa Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas personally found three personnel of the IRB battalion out of their designated spot on Wednesday night.
The trio will now face disciplinary action, probably suspension. Surprisingly, the three IRB personnel did not even recognise the superintendent of police while he was checking on them at an eatery in Fatorda and ended up getting into an argument with the SP.
Two of the three errant personnel were allegedly under the influence of alcohol while on duty. The incident occurred on Wednesday night, when the three personnel who were designated to be at the new Opinion Poll Square area were not traceable at the spot.
During a routine inspection, the SP found the three personnel in an eatery and when he questioned them why they were not at their designated spot, they reportedly retorted saying, “Can’t you see that we are having ros omelette?”
Following this, the SP phoned up the Florida Police Inspector Navlesh Desai and informed him the entire incident and asked him to submit a report on the three erring personnel. The police inspector has informed that he has sent the report to the SP on the incident involving the three IRB personnel.
