MARGAO: At the meeting organized by a group of like-minded people of Nuvem constituency on Friday, INDIA Bloc South Goa candidate Captain Viriato Fernandes received huge support, wherein he stated that his fight is to protect Goa from destruction.
Nuvem Sarpanch Freda D’Sa and her husband former MLA Wilfred D’Sa declared their support to Captain Viriato.
As informed by Creson Antao, member of the above core-committee of like-minded people, they have organized the meeting and declared their support to Captain Viriato.
He also said that very soon they will be exposing Environment Minister Aleixo Sequiera on various issues pertaining to Nuvem constituency.
The above meeting was held at Wild Orchid, Majorda wherein several local leaders besides social activists made their presence felt in support of Captain Viriato.
Addressing the gathering, Captain Viriato said that Goa has become the drug, rape and murder capital under the tenure of the BJP government and stated that women in Goa were no longer safe.
“Our rivers are being taken away and we want to preserve the environment. New laws are being brought in and the only reason is to convert the land and sell it over to the outsiders,” Viriato alleged.
“I have left everything and decided to fight for the cause of Goa and Goans. This war against linear projects is to protect Goa. The government failed to recover even a single rupee from the mining scam and is only fooling the people that they are restarting mining in Goa,” claimed Captain Viriato.
He further added that the tourism industry is the backbone of Goa’s economy and Dabolim airport is the lifeline of Goa. Tourism business will totally collapse if the Dabolim airport is shut down and mostly hit the people of South Goa. This government is destroying all those who are protecting the economy of the state of Goa.
“We have also become the unemployment capital of India. This BJP government failed on all fronts. Aleixo Sequiera is fooling the people and has become desperate as he is well aware that people of Nuvem constituency are not listening to his orders. If an MLA has guts, Nuvem MLA should make plots in his properties and give distribute to the people,” thundered Viriato.
Nuvem Panchayat Sarpanch Freda D’Sa said that they are for Viriato.
“We all like minded people have decided to support Captain Viriato. It is our duty to come forward and support this fighter. We have witnessed Captain Viriato fighting against all the issues of Nuvem constituency and Goa,” D’Sa stated.
