Car crashes against tree at Karaswada, couple killed

In a tragic accident, a couple died on the spot, when the car in which they were travelling rammed against a tree near Ambyani-Karaswada on Sunday at about 11.10 pm.
According to Mapusa Police, Harishchandra Gaad (33) had closed his bar and restaurant near Tivim panchayat, and along with his wife Prajakta (28), were proceeding towards Anjuna in their Swift car (GA-03-C-7541) to pick up their two-year-old daughter.
It was raining heavily and a lot of rainwater had accumulated on the road. Police suspect that Gaad must have lost control of the vehicle and the car rammed against the tree.
The impact was so severe that the car engine flew off about 10 ft away from the accident site. Both husband and wife died on the spot and the car was destroyed.
Police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to GMC Hospital at Bambolim. The bodies have been handed over to their relatives after conducting the post mortem. Police Sub-Inspector T J Dhavasker is investigating the case.
