MARGAO: The incessant rains almost swept a car and occupants at Paroda after water from the Kushawati River overflowed on the road.
The Margao Fire Station also attended at least six tree fall cases as the rains continued to wreak havoc in the entire South Goa.
The inundation of Paroda is not new as the rains regularly result in the water level of Kushawati River to rise and fill the surrounding areas.
On Monday, however, a driver of a vehicle travelling from Gudi-Paroda to Quepem made the wrong choice and while wading through the water stalled the vehicle. The occupants left the car, which started drifting towards the adjoining fields. The people around rose to the situation and got the vehicle backed up on the road and saved from getting swept away.
The owner of the car thanked the people for saving him and wife and also for saving his vehicle.
The local people have lost hope that any solution to the problem may ultimately arrive and this road leading to Quepem has flooded for the fifth time in a single rainy season.
At least six cases of tree falls were recorded at the Margao Fire Station due to the incessant rains. A tree fell on the house in Chinchinim but did not cause major loss.
